Attio Integration
The Attio integration keeps your partner programme and your Attio workspace in step. Journeybee leads, deals, partners and partner contacts sync to Attio people, companies and deals, and changes in Attio flow back, in both directions and in real time. It also adds a Journeybee dialog inside Attio so your team can link records to partners without leaving their CRM.
Where to find it: Go to Settings, then Integrations. Attio sits under the CRM section.
Who can use this: Connecting and configuring the integration is admin-only. Once it is connected, anyone on your Attio workspace can use the Journeybee dialog, and they are added to Journeybee as non-billable users.
Before you start
Your Attio workspace needs the standard People, Companies and Deals objects available to the connecting user. Setup creates attributes on all three, and stops if it cannot reach one of them.
Authorise with an Attio user who can read and write records and manage object attributes and webhooks.
Decide where partner records should live: the standard Companies object, or one of your custom objects.
Set up your partner stages, deal stages and custom fields first, because the configuration screen maps against whatever exists at the time. See Stages and Custom Fields.
Connecting Attio
Go to Settings, then Integrations, and click the Attio card.
Click Connect and authorise Journeybee in Attio.
Journeybee then sets up your workspace automatically. It adds the attributes it uses to link records:
People: Journeybee Lead ID and Journeybee Partner Contact ID.
Companies: Journeybee Lead ID and Journeybee Partner ID.
Deals: Journeybee Deal ID and Journeybee Lead ID.
It also creates the webhooks that keep Attio changes flowing back. Attributes that already exist are left alone, so reconnecting is safe. Do not delete these attributes, because they are how records stay matched.
Open Configure and set up your mapping. Nothing syncs until you do.
The configuration screen
The Attio configuration page has four areas in its sidebar:
Integration: the connection itself, plus Remove Integration if you ever need to disconnect.
Configure: all sync settings, field mappings and stage mappings, grouped into sections.
Import: load records from Attio and bring partners or deals into Journeybee.
Manage: back to all integrations.
Each section shows a status of Not configured, Configured or Changes pending, and mapping sections show how many of their mappings are complete. Use the search box and the Only unmapped filter to work through a long list, then save. Changes apply to future sync activity, not retrospectively.
Partner sync settings
Which Attio object should partners be stored in? Companies, or one of your custom objects.
Identifying field: the attribute and value that marks a record as a partner. If you pick a checkbox attribute, leave the identifying value blank.
Create a new record as a partner if we don't find one: Yes or No.
Unique partner field and unique partner contact field: pair a Journeybee field with an Attio attribute so existing records are matched instead of duplicated.
Lead and deal sync settings
One-way creation sync to Attio: new Journeybee leads and deals create records in Attio, but later Journeybee edits do not change them. Attio changes still sync back. Notes are not affected.
Choose how the integration should interact with existing objects: link to existing records, link only to records with no attached partner, or never link.
Unique person and company fields: set per partner type (referral and reseller), pairing a Journeybee field with an Attio attribute.
Unique deal field: the same, for deals.
Lead note sync direction and Deal note sync direction: set separately, with four options each. Bi-directional sync, Journeybee to Attio only, Attio to Journeybee only, or do not sync notes.
Field and stage mapping
Field mapping is what actually turns sync on. An Attio object is only created or updated if you have mapped at least one attribute for it.
Partner Fields: Journeybee partners to attributes on your partner object.
Partner Contact Fields: partner contacts to People attributes.
Person Fields and Company Fields: Journeybee lead details to the prospect's person and company records.
Deal Fields: deal name, deal value, commission value, expiration date and deal custom fields.
Partner Stages: choose an attribute on your partner object, then map each Journeybee partner stage to one of its values.
Deal Stages: choose the Attio deal attribute that holds the stage, then map each Journeybee deal stage to one of its values.
Partner associations
These settings show the partner on the synced Attio records. Person, company and deal associations can each be set to no association, a text attribute holding the partner's name, or a record reference that links the partner company record itself.
Partner Contact Association: the relationship attribute used to link a partner contact to their partner record.
Distributor and reseller association: the attribute used to record distributor-to-reseller relationships. See Distribution Management.
What syncs and when
Attio is the most immediate of the CRM integrations, because there is no scheduled catch-up sync and nothing needs one.
Journeybee to Attio happens within seconds of a change. Rapid edits are batched into a single write.
Attio to Journeybee arrives in real time through signed webhooks: new deals, record updates on people, companies and deals, and notes created, edited or deleted.
Notes can flow either way, or both, depending on your note direction settings.
Journeybee paces its calls to stay inside Attio's rate limits and retries automatically when Attio asks it to slow down.
Importing existing Attio data
Partners
In Partner Import Settings, set the identifying attribute and value, and choose the Partner Type for this import. Only one type can be imported at a time.
Open the Import tab and load records. Journeybee lists the matching records with their associated people, and you choose which to bring in.
Start the import. Each record becomes a Journeybee partner, with its selected people added as partner contacts and the Attio record IDs stored so future changes stay linked.
Imported partners are created as offline partners, so no portal invitation is sent. Invite them from the partner page when you are ready. See Partner Contacts.
Deals
Map your deal stages first, so imported deals land in the right stage.
Under Partners to Import Deals For, select the partners whose deals you want. The list shows how many unimported deals each one has.
Run the import. Journeybee creates a lead and deal for each Attio deal, and repairs existing deals that are missing their link attributes rather than duplicating them.
The Journeybee dialog in Attio
The dialog opens on Attio person, company and deal records.
When the record is not yet linked, pick the partner it belongs to, optionally attach partner contacts, and create the lead in Journeybee. That is Create Reseller Lead for reseller partners, or Send Lead and Lead Received for referral partners. On a deal record, the deal is created alongside the lead.
When the record is already linked, a Details tab shows the partner at a glance (logo, name, partner type, status, stage, category and tier) and a Lead Notes or Deal Notes tab lets you read and add notes that sync with Journeybee.
Attio users who open the dialog are provisioned in Journeybee as non-billable users, so they do not consume a licence.
Working with Attio from Journeybee
Open in Attio: leads, deals, partners and contacts show an Attio link that takes you straight to the matching record.
Linked deals: a lead lists the Attio deals on its linked person or company and marks the ones already connected, so you can link an existing deal instead of creating a duplicate.
Troubleshooting
Nothing is syncing at all. Check the section you expect to sync actually has field mappings saved. An object with no mapped attributes is never created or updated.
Connecting did not finish. Setup stops if it cannot read or create attributes on People, Companies or Deals. Confirm all three objects exist in your workspace and that the connecting user can manage attributes, then connect again.
A banner says Attio needs reconnecting. The connection has expired or been revoked and sync is paused. Admins also get an email. Open the Attio card under Settings, then Integrations, and connect again. Sync resumes straight away.
Attio changes are not coming through. Attio changes rely on webhooks, so check the Journeybee webhooks still exist in your Attio workspace. Reconnecting recreates them. Check too that the record still has its Journeybee ID attribute populated, because clearing it unlinks the record.
Duplicate people or companies are being created. Set the unique person, company and deal fields, and choose a linking option other than never linking to existing records.
Notes are appearing twice. Bi-directional note sync is the default. Set the direction to one way if your team writes the same note in both systems.
Good to know
Everything is opt-in. A setting you leave blank simply means that behaviour is off: no attributes are written and no records are linked by default.
The Journeybee attributes added at connect time are how records stay matched. Keep them on your objects.
Attio and Pipedrive are the only CRM integrations where notes can sync both ways.
Removing the integration stops all syncing but leaves your Journeybee records, and your Attio records, exactly as they are.
For the other tools you can connect, see Integrations.
