Slack Integration
The Slack integration does three jobs: your team can register a partner lead without leaving Slack, partner conversations in Journeybee can be mirrored into a Slack channel so replies happen where your team already works, and notification rules can post into Slack when something needs attention.
Where to find it: Go to Settings, then Integrations. Slack sits under the Communication section.
Who can use this: An admin connects Slack. After that, anyone in your Slack workspace can use the lead shortcut, and channel links are managed from each partner's Messages tab.
Before you start
You need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. Some workspaces restrict this to Slack admins, so ask them to approve the install if yours does.
Decide which channels you want partner conversations mirrored into. A channel per partner works well; a single shared channel gets noisy fast.
Connecting Slack
Go to Settings, then Integrations, and click the Slack card.
Click Connect. You are sent to Slack to authorise the app.
Choose the workspace and approve. You come back to Journeybee with the integration connected.
Creating leads from Slack
Anyone in the connected workspace can register a lead from Slack, through the Journeybee shortcut in Slack's actions menu or the Journeybee slash command. Either opens a three-step form:
Partner and direction: pick the partner the lead belongs to and whether it is coming from them or going to them.
Lead details: company name and contact details for the prospect.
Custom fields: anything else your programme captures on a lead.
Submit and the lead is created in Journeybee, attached to that partner, exactly as if it had been entered in the app. See Creating Leads for the other ways leads arrive.
Mirroring partner conversations
A Journeybee message room can be linked to a Slack channel so the conversation runs in both places.
Open the partner, go to the Messages tab, and connect a Slack channel.
Pick the channel from the list, or search for it.
For a private channel, invite the Journeybee bot to that channel in Slack afterwards. Slack will not let the app post otherwise, and Journeybee reminds you of this when you connect one.
Once linked:
Messages posted in Journeybee appear in the Slack channel, and messages posted in Slack appear in the Journeybee room.
Edits and deletions made in Slack are reflected in Journeybee.
Files shared in Slack come across as attachments on the Journeybee message.
Messages from bots and apps are ignored, which is what stops Journeybee's own posts bouncing back round the loop.
You can disconnect a channel from the same Messages tab at any time; the conversation history stays in Journeybee.
Notifications in Slack
Notification rules can deliver to a Slack channel instead of, or as well as, email. That suits things the whole team should see, like a new lead registered by a partner or a deal reaching a stage. Choose Slack as the destination and pick the channel when you build the rule. See Notifications.
If Slack rejects a delivery, usually because the bot was removed from the channel or the channel was archived, the rule records the error so you can spot it and fix the channel.
Troubleshooting
Messages are not appearing in a private channel. The Journeybee bot has to be a member. Invite it to the channel in Slack, then post again.
The channel I want is not in the list. Very new channels can take a moment to appear, so try searching by name. Archived channels are not offered.
Slack messages stopped reaching Journeybee. Check the bot is still in the channel and that the channel has not been archived or renamed away from the linked one. Reconnect the channel from the partner's Messages tab if needed.
The lead form will not open. The integration has to be connected for your company, and you have to be in the workspace it was connected to. Ask an admin to confirm the connection under Settings, then Integrations.
Journeybee's own messages are not coming back into Journeybee. That is deliberate: app and bot messages are ignored to prevent an endless echo between the two systems.
Nothing works after someone left the company. The Slack connection belongs to the workspace, not the person, but if the app was removed in Slack an admin needs to reconnect it from the integration card.
Good to know
Both public and private channels can be linked. Private ones just need the bot invited.
Leads created from Slack are ordinary leads: they show in the Leads page, count in reporting, and follow your custom field rules.
Disconnecting Slack stops the mirroring and the notifications, but never deletes messages or leads on either side.
Microsoft Teams message mirroring is not available yet.
